Why Automotive and Recreation Dealers Choose Unalike Marketing

In the competitive automotive and motorsports industries, you need a marketing strategy as tough as Saskatchewan winters and as exciting as summer on the lake. Here’s why local dealerships and motorsports businesses trust Unalike Marketing:

We Know the Market

Born, raised and based here in Saskatchewan. We understand that even though Regina and Saskatoon are metropolitan markets, they still haven’t fully adopted EVs. Or that the rural locations, like Melfort and North Battleford still prefer a truck to any other body style. We tailor every campaign to connect with these local drivers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Industry-Specific Expertise

We’ve worked with leading automotive and motorsports brands, helping them showcase their vehicles, parts, and accessories in ways that drive results. New vehicles, used vehicles, winter tire campaigns, snowmobile apparel, we’ve got you covered.

Results-Driven Campaigns

You do have to spend money to make money, but those dollars should be driving results. Through witty copywriting and engaging visuals to highly targeted ad campaigns, we craft marketing strategies that grow your web traffic, time on site, SRP and VDP views. It’s up to your dealership to convert that increased foot traffic, and growing test drives to sales.

Case Study #1: Growing Organic Traffic For Online Car Buying

The standard dealership funnel looks like this:

2. Social Media That Sells

Automotive and Motorsports sales funnel

From car enthusiasts in Saskatoon to motorsports adventurers in Warman, your customers are scrolling on social media. With our expertise, we ensure your dealership doesn’t just get noticed, it gets results.

  • Content Calendars: Strategically planned posts that highlight your inventory during peak buying seasons, while maintaining consistency and engagement.
  • Ad Campaigns: Our social media ad strategies focus on your goals. Do you want to drive traffic directly to your website to convert? Or is it all about lead volume, which in that case Facebook and Instagram lead ads can jumpstart your quantity. Whether it’s promoting your latest inventory, advertising trade-in offers, or running financing promotions, our lead generation campaigns are designed to capture contact information and drive conversions.
  • Viral Content Creation: From eye-catching reels to action-packed motorsports videos, we create content that connects with Saskatchewan audiences and keeps your brand top-of-mind.

So to grow your business it starts with filling the top of the funnel. There are two ways to do that, one is you pay for it with things like Google Search ads. But the preference we desire is growing your organic search traffic. 49% of marketers believe organic search is the most profitable channel they use because having a customer search for and find what they’re looking for puts you one step closer to conversion.

In this instance, we started a used car business from literally zero and grew them to a 47% increase in clicks and 758% increase in impressions in a 6-month comparison. For on-site SEO it focused on rich, relevant content, updated often. This was included both as monthly blogs, as well as the base on inventory pages. Off-site content focused on a back link strategy, mainly paid through high domain authority news sites that ran our articles. All said and done, the leads flew in upwards of 450 per month.

Case Study #2: Turning Tires into Triumphs

Another of our standout successes came from collaborating with a Saskatchewan dealership looking to boost sales during the traditionally slow winter months. Through a combination of witty ad copy, targeted social media campaigns backed by traditional media and a winter tire promotion, we not only increased foot traffic but also boosted their winter accessory sales by 40%.

  • Google Shopping Ads: A powerful tool for showcasing your inventory to customers actively searching for products online. These ads appear at the top of Google search results, often featuring product images, prices, and key details, giving buyers an instant snapshot of what you offer. If you've ever searched for “Nike running shoes” and seen a row of product listings with images, prices, and seller names, you've encountered Google Shopping Ads in action.

For the automotive and motorsports industries, Shopping Ads are a game-changer. They’re designed to directly connect your products, whether it’s vehicles, parts, or accessories, with buyers who are ready to purchase. Given their value, let’s dig into them a little more.

How Google Shopping Ads Work

Screenshot of Google Shopping Ads in Saskatchewan

Google Shopping Ads pull information directly from your inventory through the Google Merchant Center, which integrates with your website. These ads automatically display product details like:

  • Images: A clear photo of the car, part, or accessory being sold.
  • Price: Real-time pricing that’s competitive and transparent.
  • Availability: Whether the product is in stock or available for pre-order.
  • Product Name and Description: Concise and engaging details to grab attention.

For example, if a customer searches for “2023 Hyundais in Saskatoon,” your ad could appear showcasing a set of tires with an image, price, and the availability at your dealership. This targeted visibility ensures you’re connecting with buyers who are ready to act.

Key Benefits of Google Shopping Ads for Saskatchewan Dealerships

  • Stand Out from Competitors: Shopping Ads display visually-rich content that grabs attention and makes your inventory stand out in search results.
  • Drive High-Intent Traffic: These ads connect you with customers already searching for specific products, and drive them directly to that VDP link on your website making them more likely to convert.
  • Showcase Your Full Inventory: Whether you’re promoting new vehicles, parts, or motorsports accessories, Shopping Ads ensure buyers see what you have to offer.

Dynamic Features for Automotive and Motorsports

  • Local Inventory Ads: These let nearby customers know what’s available at your dealership in real-time. For example, if someone in Regina searches for a “pre-owned Ford F-150,” they’ll see your available inventory and know it’s just a short drive away.
  • Promotions and Deals: Highlight special offers, such as discounts on accessories or financing deals on new models.

Why Google Shopping Ads Work

Google Shopping Ads are designed to create a seamless shopping experience, allowing buyers to explore and compare products without leaving the search results page. For dealerships in Saskatchewan, this means more visibility, better-qualified leads, and ultimately, higher sales.

By leveraging Google Shopping Ads with Unalike Marketing, you can make your dealership the go-to choice for automotive and motorsports buyers in Saskatoon, Regina, and beyond. Let us help you showcase your inventory and drive results.

ATVs, side by sides, snowmobiles, boats, jet skis, and trailers, motorsports marketing is all about capturing the thrill of the ride. We know how to showcase the lifestyle and excitement your customers crave.

Targeted Motorsports Strategies:

  • Seasonal Campaigns: It’s an annual cycle that repeats every calendar year. The key is to time your switch from winter to summer product before your competitors do. Promote winter snowmobile sales or summer Sea-Doo pre-orders with campaigns that match the season’s energy.
  • Engaging Storytelling: Use your brand’s story to connect with outdoor enthusiasts who value the freedom and adventure your products offer. For these brands, social media isn’t just for sales, it’s for building aspirations.

How we help.

Attribution & Reporting.

Most dealers can tell you how many leads came in. Almost none can tell you which leads became sold VINs. We build the closed-loop attribution that makes marketing a revenue line, not an expense line: lead-source field on every record, sold-status loop in your CRM, post-sale "how did you find us?" survey on every delivery. That's the only honest answer to the question your CFO actually asks.

Questions buyers ask.

Do you integrate with AutoTrader, Kijiji Autos, or DealerRater inventory feeds?
Yes — for ads (Performance Max + Display + Meta DPA-style inventory ads), the inventory feed IS the campaign for most dealerships. We'll pull from your DMS (vAuto, ProMax, Frazer, dealertrack) or directly from the third-party feed where your DMS doesn't expose a clean export. Honest framing: clean feed data is upstream of every ad result, so if your VINs/photos/prices are wrong, no campaign tuning will save it.
Dealership vs independent shop vs powersports / RV / marine — do you work with all three?
Yes, but they're three different campaign architectures. Franchised dealerships have OEM co-op rules, model-year embargoes, and brand-standard creative. Independents have cleaner attribution but smaller ad budgets and need every click to count. Powersports / RV / marine has heavy seasonality and longer consideration windows — display + retargeting matters more than top-of-funnel search. We've worked all three; ask about your specific category and we'll be straight about where we're strong.
Can you handle compliance for FCAI, MVDA, or provincial dealer-act ad rules?
We operate inside them, we don't write them. Practical version: every ad set is reviewed against your provincial Motor Vehicle Dealers Act / OMVIC (Ontario) / VSA (BC) disclosure requirements before launch — total price including admin and freight, in-stock claims that match feed data, financing APRs that match your lender's actual offers. We won't run "starting at $99/mo" creative if the actual qualifying customer is 5% of your audience. That's a compliance complaint waiting to happen.
What about AI-generated VDP copy and OEM-supplied chat widgets?
AI VDP copy is real and works, but only if it's reviewed against your inventory feed and your OEM's brand voice rules. We've shipped AI-VDP-copy at scale for dealership clients (see the playbook in this section). On OEM chat widgets: they're usually worse than a well-tuned dealer-controlled chat, because OEM chat routes leads to whoever responds first, not always to you. Self-hosted is almost always better unless your OEM contract requires otherwise.
Do you work with dealer groups or just single-rooftop dealerships?
Both. The work is different. Single-rooftop dealers care about local-pack visibility, used-car gross per VDP, and not losing the OEM bonus. Dealer-group VPs of Marketing care about cross-rooftop attribution, multi-OEM co-op optimization, and explaining to a CFO whether group-level marketing investment drove sold VINs that wouldn't have closed otherwise. The Cox-Fullpath acquisition, AutoCanada's CarGurus + AutoTrader partnership shifts, and the multi-province compliance load (OMVIC + MVSABC + MVIA + Quebec OPC + Bill 96) all hit groups harder. We have a dedicated content track for group-level operators (FFUN, AutoCanada, Dilawri-scale) at /automotive-marketing.
What's the deal with "AI search visibility" for dealerships?
Customers asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google AI Overviews "best [OEM] dealer in [city]" get three names. They don't scroll past three. If you're not one of those three, you don't exist for that buyer. The work to fix this is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO): citation-worthy entity content on your About page, FAQ schema, llms.txt, schema markup on your inventory pages so AI systems can extract and quote you. It's brand-new ground for auto retail and most dealers haven't even audited where they stand yet. We have the methodology + the in-flight Dealership AI Visibility Audit tool.
What's the right marketing budget for a Canadian dealership?
NADA recommends 6-7% of total gross profit. Canadian Auto Dealer magazine pegs the per-new-retail-unit benchmark at $635 since 2016. Hrizn's 2026 guide says 85-95% of that budget should be digital. But the bigger question is which CHANNELS deserve the budget, and most dealers don't have the attribution data to answer that honestly. Without a closed-loop attribution system (lead-source field + sold-status loop + post-sale survey), you're allocating blind. We build the loop first, then optimize channel mix against real sold-VIN data.
How do you measure marketing success? Clicks? Leads?
Neither. Sold VINs and incremental revenue. Clicks and leads are upstream proxies that vendor dashboards love because they're easy to inflate. The honest measure is whether a marketing dollar produced a sold unit that wouldn't have closed otherwise (incrementality, in operator terms: sales we wouldn't have gotten anyway). We do marketing for revenue, not marketing for marketing's sake. If we can't show you sold-VIN attribution from the work, that's our problem to fix, not yours to tolerate.
